Festival Amazônias Celebrates Cinema in Bragança

The second edition of the event brings together competitive screenings, shows, visual arts, and gastronomy between December 3rd and 6th in the Pearl of Caeté

The II Amazônias Festival will bring more than 40 films from Latin America to the alternative cinema circuit in Bragança (PA). The 2025 edition will take place from December 3rd to 6th, with a program that integrates cinema, music, dance, visual arts, food culture, and debates.

The event already represents an important cultural encounter dedicated to valuing Amazonian and Latin American audiovisual production. Born from the Amazônias Film Club Project, an initiative created in Bragança to strengthen debates, screenings, and educational activities about cinema in the region, the festival celebrates the encounter between people, territories, and culture through cinema.

As a preparatory stage, the festival held training sessions in September and October in Bragança and in the municipalities of Viseu and Augusto Corrêa, with film screenings and workshops. For the competitive section, 900 short films from Latin America were submitted across five categories. Audiovisual experts curated the selection to choose 41 finalists who will compete for cash prizes and honorable mentions. The categories are divided into:

Açaí Showcase – films from Pará state

Buriti Showcase – films from Latin America and Portuguese-speaking countries

Tacacá Showcase – fiction

Maniçoba Showcase – documentaries

Chibé Showcase – animations

The films will be screened during the four-day event, followed by cultural attractions, debates, and free audiovisual workshops. This year, the visual identity was created by visual artists Danilo Corrêa and Yan Silva, with representations of elements of Amazonian food culture based on indigenous graphic designs as symbols of ancestry and diversity.
